Hot Digital Action Meets My PDC Years

The digital revolution makes taking photos so much easier! I routinely go to Golden Gate Park, take 25 photos of a tree, choose the best one, and everyone thinks I'm a photographic genius. This is the upside.

The downside is that my now antiquated photo albums are begging to be included in the Hot Digital Action (HDA). I have many photo albums dating back to when I was 16 years old. That, my friends, is half my life ago. This has me rubbing my chin thoughtfully and asking myself, "Why not let my photo albums in on this HDA? I could digitize all of my photos back to childhood, therefore ensuring their viability far into the future!"

The answer to this, of course, is that it's extremely time consuming. My butt will hurt from sitting in my chair for so long, my head will ache from staring at my computer screen, and my wrists will become immobile due to carpal tunnel syndrom as I PhotoShop each scanned page of multiple photos back into single photos.

So, I find myself locked in a battle of wits with my one dozen photo albums as I write this. I have started with the most recent album, dated 2003. These were my Pre-Digital Camera (PDC) years. And I was right. My butt is totally numb after only two hours of this task. I have noticed, however, that the beauty of this enormous black hole on my free time is that I get to rediscover photos I haven't seen since I put them in the prehistoric photo album over three years ago. Here's one. Look for more in the coming months on my photo page.

A few years ago my mother in law scanned in tons of childhood pics of her four kids and made each of them a printed photo album summing up their lives (she probably gave them the cd too). Such a great gift, since most of our parents keep those childhood photos of us to themselves (with good reason, I'd have wrecked them or lost them by now if I had them). Of course, she was finally being rewarded for never having put the photos in albums in the first place.

My mom doesn't understand why I don't print out every single photo I take of Nutmeg. I'm like, where would i put ALL THOSE ALBUMS???

I miss you!
